Editorial Policy & How We Rate
RatedEyewear does not publish made-up scores. A buying guide gives each product a standard check based on what the manufacturer states on its own specification page, as of the date on the guide.
Standard check
- Right standard: the maker states the standard written for that activity, such as ASTM F3164 for racket sports, ASTM F803 for basketball, baseball, and soccer, or ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 for work and school.
- Adjacent standard: the maker cites a real standard that was not written for that activity. The guide says so.
- No standard stated: there is no verifiable standard claim on the official page. Those products are generally not recommended for protection.
Within a level, guides compare published details that matter for the use: prescription range, size and fit, side coverage, lens material, UV statements, anti-fog claims, and the listed US price with the month it was checked. Manufacturer claims are labeled as the brand’s statement. A standard check is not independent certification.
Sources
Certification claims cite the standards body, the regulation, or the manufacturer’s specification page. Medical and injury figures cite peer-reviewed research or a recognized authority, with the data years. Prices are the brand’s listed US price at the month checked, not a live feed.
Independence and corrections
Commissions do not decide which products appear or how they are rated. Informational pages and resources do not carry affiliate links. If the people running the site have a commercial tie to a category, guides in that category say so and do not recommend the connected products. Brands cannot pay for inclusion or approve copy before publication.
